Traveling to Thailand for medical treatment? Here is the complete checklist for the Thailand Medical Visa application. This visa is issued to patients seeking treatment in Thailand and can also be applied for accompanying attendants.
Visa Overview
- Visa Type: Medical Visa (Non-Immigrant “O”)
- Entry: Single / Multiple (depending on approval)
- Stay Duration: Up to 90 days (extendable in Thailand)
- Processing Time: 5–7 Working Days
- Apply at: Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka
Required Documents for Patient
- Visa Application Form & Photos
Submit:
- Completed and signed Thailand visa application form
- Two recent passport size photos
- Size: 3.5 × 4.5 cm
- White background
- Taken within last 6 months
- Passport Requirements
- Original passport with minimum 6 months validity
- At least two blank pages
- Photocopy of passport bio page
- Copies of previous visas (if any)
- Cover Letter from Applicant
Address the letter to the Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka.
The letter must include:
- Purpose of visit (Medical treatment)
- Name of hospital in Thailand
- Expected travel date
- Duration of stay
- Who will bear the treatment expenses
- Medical Documents from Thailand Hospital (MOST IMPORTANT)
You must provide an official letter from the hospital in Thailand stating:
- Patient name & passport number
- Medical condition/diagnosis
- Treatment plan
- Appointment date
- Estimated treatment duration
- Estimated medical cost
- Appointment Confirmation
- Confirmed hospital appointment letter
- Hospital contact details must be visible
- Flight Reservation
- Confirmed round-trip flight booking
- Accommodation Proof
Provide any one:
- Hotel booking in Thailand
OR - Hospital accommodation confirmation
- Financial Documents
Submit:
- Last 6 months bank statement (original & bank stamped)
- Bank solvency certificate
Recommended balance:
- Patient: BDT 100,000 – 150,000+
- With attendant: BDT 200,000+
If sponsor will pay:
- Sponsor bank statement
- Sponsorship letter
- Relationship proof
- Occupation Proof
Service Holder
- NOC from employer
- Salary certificate / payslip
- Office ID copy
Business Owner
- Trade license
- Visiting card
- Company seal & pad
Student
- Student ID copy
- NOC from institution
Housewife
- Marriage certificate
- Husband’s documents & bank statement
- National ID
- Copy of NID (English version)
Documents for Medical Attendant (If Traveling with Patient)
Attendant must submit:
- Visa application form & photos
- Passport copy
- Flight booking
- Hotel booking
- Bank statement
- Sponsorship letter from patient
- Proof of relationship (Marriage / Birth certificate)
Visa Fee
Approximate fee:
- BDT 6500 BDT with Processing fee.
(Subject to embassy update)
Important Notes
- All documents must be printed on A4 paper
- Bank statements must be officially stamped
- Embassy may request interview or additional documents
- Visa can be extended in Thailand if treatment continues
